Western Kentucky Speedway Rust Bolt 2014 Rules


1. Any 6 or 8 cylinder is acceptable, providing it meets safety requirements.
2. No convertibles, trucks, station wagons or 4 wheel drives permitted.'
3. All glass must be removed and windshield replaced with at least 3 safety bars. (screen recommended)
4. Racing seats, belts and window nets are the only race parts allowed. Quick steer, tachometer and gauges ok.
5. All doors must be welded, chained or bolted shut.
6. No modifications to body or suspension. Stock firewall must remain in place. May gut trunk for fuel cell mounting. Must have firewall between fuel cell and driver. Fender wells may be trimmed for tire clearance. Rear inner fender wells must remain in place. Head lights, tail lights and mirrors must be removed. Bumpers must be welded or chained. Rub bars ok. No aftermarket bodies. No sharp edges or protruding bumpers allowed. 5 inch spoiler on rear deck will be allowed. Aftermarket nose pieces OK
7. All cars must have numbers 18 inches or larger on both doors and top. Must be very visible.
8. Tow chain on front and rear is mandatory.
9. Shock mounts must be in stock location. No racing shocks or springs. Stock double pigtail rear springs only.
10. 8" maximum wheel width. Steel wheels only. Racing wheels optional. No staggering of wheels. Must run the same size tires and wheels on all four corners. DOT tires mandatory. No grooving of tires. No recaps. Must have 1" lug nuts on all wheels.
11. Car must weigh 3400 pounds after race.
12. Any production or aftermarket radiator permitted. May run electric cooling fans
13. May run electric fuel pump providing it has safety shut off provisions.


1. Engine must remain in stock location.
2. Engine bore shall not exceed .060 over stock. One piece rear main seal blocks ok. Chevrolet V-8's MUST use 305 cubic inch engines. Ford V-8's MUST use 302 cubic inch engines. Chrysler V-8's MUST use 318 cubic inch engines.
3. Cast dish or flat top pistons ok. No domes will be allowed.
4. Stock crankshafts and rods only. No aftermarket crankshafts or rods. No offset grinding of crankshafts. (stroke will be checked) Stock diameter balancer. No light weight anything allowed.
5. Stock cylinder heads only allowed on any engine No port work of any kind. 1.94-1.50 maximum valve size. Stock diameter valve springs only.
6. No fuel injection, throttle body, vortec or closed chamber "double hump" style heads.
7. Hydraulic camshafts not to exceed .440 lift.(will be checked) No solid lifter or roller camshafts of any kind. No roller rocker arms of any kind.
8. No Holley 2 or 4-barrel carburetors. No aftermarket intakes. Rochester 2-barrel or 750 cfm Q-Jet on stock intake manifold ok. Motorcraft and Carter ok on Ford and Chryslers. K&N or similar aftermarket replacement air cleaners are ok.
9. Stock ignition systems only. No MSD or similar aftermarket boxes allowed.
10. No headers. Stock exhaust manifolds only, are acceptable.
11. Any stock production 3 speed automatic transmission ok. Must have stock converter. Transmissions must retain stock shift pattern and all gears must work. No powerglides.
12. Stock production 5 speed manual transmissions with STOCK type clutch allowed if factory equipped in that make and model vehicle. No light weight flywheels. Must have all gears (No lightening by removing gears) No Brinn or Bert transmissions. No double or triple disc clutches. This WILL be checked and enforced.
13. Any production Ford, Chrysler or GM rear end OK. No aftermarket housings allowed. Lockers or posi units OK. Must have 360 degree safety loop on forward third of drive shaft.
14. Drive shaft and any added weight must be painted white and numbered to the car.


1. All driver and riders must wear helmets, seat belts long sleeve shirts and long pants.
2. One seat = one window net. Two seats = two window nets.
3. Must have safety bars in place of windshield. (screen recommended)
4. All cars must have a working fire extinguisher on board.
5. Fuel cell or tank must be securely strapped into trunk area.
6. Cars must have fire wall between fuel cell and driver compartment. Fuel line must exit from top of tank or cell.
7. Any riders under the age of 18 must provide proof of health insurance in case of accident.


Roll cages must be built from steel tubing (no pipe of any kind) 1 1/2 O.D. x .095" wall thickness. All tubing must be mandrel bent and welded with arc, mig or tig. Full four post roll cage with at least one horizontal bar behind driver from left to right, in the main roll bar. A diagonal brace from top to bottom in the main roll bar. A minimum of three horizontal door bar in passenger side, two braces from top of main roll bar down to trunk floor behind rear axle. A horizontal from left to right between front cage post at dash height and two braces or snout hoop forward from dash brace to front sub-frame horns. Other bars or braces to protect radiator, fuel cell, etc. are allowed, but must remain inside body lines. Roll bars must pass tech.
