2011/12 PURE STOCK RULES

CAR AND BODY

1. ANY STOCK US PRODUCTION MODEL 1960 AND NEWER. NO CONVERTIBLES, STATION WAGONS OR TRUCKS ALLOWED.
2. MINIMUM STOCK WHEELBASE ALLOWED: 108".  NO SHORTENING OF FRAME OR BODY.
3. NO BRACING ANYWHERE OF ANY KIND.
4. ALL DOORS MUST BE WELDED, CHAINED OR BOLTED SHUT.
5. ALL GLASS MUST BE REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH SCREEN.
6. APPROVED SEAT BELTS AND APPROVED SHOULDER HARNESS REQUIRED. BELTS MUST BE 3" IN WIDTH AND IN GOOD CONDITION. FIVE POINT QUICK RELEASE SYSTEM RECOMMENDED. MADE FOR RACING SEATS MANDATORY.
7. REAR BOTTOM SEAT CUSHIONS MUST BE REMOVED. REAR SEAT SHELF OR AN ADEQUATE FIREWALL MANDATORY.
8. COMPLETE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER STEEL UNIBODY MUST BE RETAINED.
9. THE STOCK STEEL UNALTERED FLOOR PAN, FIREWALL, TRUNK , TRUNK FLOOR AND REAR WHEEL WELLS MUST BE RETAINED. FRONT MAY BE CUT FOR TIRE CLEARANCE
10. "CARS MUST BE STOCK APPEARING. NO CHOPPING, CHANNELING, SHORTENING OR CUTTING ALLOWED. NO HOLES IN HOOD AND HOOD MUST BE KEPT IN PLACE AT ALL TIMES. BODY SHEET METAL MUST BE KEPT IN PLACE AT ALL TIMES.
11. FRONT FIREWALL MUST BE SEALED.
12. TOW CHAIN IS MANDATORY ON FRONT AND REAR (CHAIN OR CABLE).
13. CARS MUST HAVE COMPLETE STOCK BUMPER. EACH BUMPER SHOULD HAVE 2 CHAINS OR STRAPS TO HELP PREVENT IT FROM FALLING OFF THE CAR.
14. ALL CARS MUST BE BILATERALLY SYMMETRICAL.
15. MINIMUM WEIGHT AT ANY TIME IS 3200 POUNDS WITH DRIVER.
16. "ADDED" WEIGHT MUST BE BOLTED, WELDED OR SECURELY FASTENED. INSTALLATION MUST BE APPROVED BY THE TECHNICAL INSPECTOR.
17. ALL WEIGHT MUST BE PAINTED WHITE AND NUMBERED TO CAR.
18. WINDOW NETS MANDATORY.
19. FULL ROLL CAGE MANDATORY.
20. ALL CARS MUST HAVE NUMBER ON BOTH DOORS AND ON THE TOP (18" OR LARGER) AND MUST BE VERY VISIBLE.
21. SOLID MOTOR MOUNTS AND MID-MOUNTS ARE OK.
22. MAXIMUM 6" TALL SPOILER OPTIONAL.

23. NO SHARP EDGES OR PROTRUDING BUMPERS ALLOWED.  NO BARS OUTSIDE.

ENGINE

(360 CID RULE)

1. THE ENGINE MUST BE STRICTLY STOCK FOR THAT MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR AND IN ITS ORIGINAL MOUNT POSITION. NO SB 400íS!
2. ANY ALUMINUM INTAKES-NO WILSON OR BRAZINSKY.
3. ANY CAM SHAFT-NO ROLLERS.
4. NO PORTING OR GRINDING OF ANY KIND ON HEADS, INTAKE OR EXHAUST.  PORTING    UNDER VALVES ONLY OK.
5. NO AFTERMARKET RACING PARTS. MAY RUN ROLLER ROCKER ARMS.
6. 2.02-1.60 VALVES MAXIMUM ONLY FOR CHEVROLET-1.94-1.60 FOR FORDS.
7. NO STROKING OF MOTORS. 6" RODS LEGAL.
8. ALL FACTORY HEADS 72CC & 305 HEADS ALLOWED.
9. PUMPING AND TEAR DOWN IF NECESSARY!!!
10. MAY RUN DISH OR FLAT TOP PISTONS ONLY!!!  MAXIMUM BORE .060.
11. 1 5/8" HEADERS ALLOWED NO STEP-UPS.
12. NO 1 PIECE REAR MAIN SEAL MOTORS ALLOWED IN CHEVY'S.

CARBURETOR

1. CARS MAY HAVE ONE STOCK UNALTERED 2 BARREL OR 4 BARREL CARBURETOR, 600 HOLLEY ALLOWED (WILL BE GAUGED). NO REAR METERING BLOCK IN REAR OF CARBURETOR.
2. ADAPTER PLATED FROM 4 BARREL TO 2 BARREL ALLOWED.  NO SPACERS UNDER CARBURETOR.
3. FUEL MUST BE GASOLINE. NO ALCOHOL, ALCOHOL BASE, NITROUS OXIDE, NITRO METHANE
4. IF RUNNING QUADRA JET IT MUST BE STOCK FOR MODEL OF CAR.  NOT TO EXCEED 750 CFM.
5. MAY RUN DUAL LINES BUT NO DOUBLE PUMPERS.

TRANSMISSIONS & REAR ENDS

1. STOCK AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS AND POWER GLIDE WITH WORKING TORQUE CONVERTER.  STRAIGHT SHIFTS ARE OK.  NO MINI CLUTCHES OR ALUMINUM FLY WHEELS, SINGLE CLUTCH, ALL GEARS MUST WORK.
2. LOCKED, WELDED OR POSITIVE TRACTION REAR ENDS ARE ALLOWED.
3. MAY RUN 9" FORD WITH STOCK SUSPENSION.
4. FLOATERS & DISK BRAKES ON REAR ENDS ALLOWED.
5.  360 DEGREE DRIVESHAFT HOOP IS MANDATORY, INSTALLED ON FORWARD THIRD OF DRIVESHAFT.
6.  DRIVESHAFT MUST BE STEEL & STOCK FOR THAT CAR.  DRIVESHAFT MUST BE PAINTED WHITE!!!!
7.  REAR ENDS MAY BE SUBSTITUTED PROVIDED TRACK WIDTH IS NOT ALTERED.
8.  NO QUICK CHANGE REAR ENDS.

GAS TANK INSTALLATION

1. THE STOCK TANK MUST BE REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH A SAFE, SMALL, SECURELY MOUNTED 6-GALLON OUTBOARD MARINE TYPE TANK. PLASTIC, STEEL OR A FUEL CELL.
2. NO HOLES ALLOWED IN TRUNK LID. ONE FUEL TANK ONLY.
3. THE FUEL LINE MUST EXIT FROM TOP OF THE TANK. NO FUEL LINES IN THE DRIVERS COMPARTMENT. NO ELECTRIC FUEL PUMPS.
4. A COMPLETE FIREWALL MUST SEAL THE TRUNK AREA FROM THE DRIVERíS COMPARTMENT. THE TRUNK FLOOR MUST BE IN PLACE.  NO ALUMINUM INSIDE CAR FOR FRONT OR REAR FIREWALL.
5. TANK MUST BE SECURED BY FOUR OVER THE TANK (TWO IN EACH DIRECTION) 1 1/2 X 1 1/8" STRIPS.
6. INSTALLATION SUBJECT TO INSPECTION BY THE TECHNICAL INSPECTOR.

 

SUSPENSION

1. STOCK UNALTERED A-FRAME MOUNTS AND TRAILING ARM MOUNTS.  TOP TUBULAR A-FRAMES ALLOWED
2. RACING OR STOCK SPRINGS ALLOWED.
3. ANY CAR FOUND TO BE MODIFIED IN ANY WAY WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
4. RACING SHOCKS ALLOWED, ONLY 1 SHOCK PER WHEEL NON-ADJUSTABLE STEEL SHOCKS. $100 CLAIM PRE SHOCK.
5. JACK BOLTS ALLOWED.
6. STOCK TRAILING ARM, BOTTOM STOCK, TOP CAN BE ALTERED FOR PINION ANGLE.  MUST BE STOCK TYPE AND IN STOCK LOCATION.  RUBBER TYPE BUSHINGS (NO STEEL)

TIRES AND WHEELS

1. TIRES MY BE HOOSIER OPEN WHEEL D, A or H TIRES. NO TRUCK TIRES. NO FANCY RECAPS, AFTERMARKET, EXOTIC TRICK GUMBALL TIRES OF ANY KIND. ALL FOUR TIRES MUST BE THE SAME SIZE (14" OR 15")
2. NO GROOVING OF TIRES.
3. STEEL WHEELS ONLY AND MUST HAVE 1" LUG NUTS ON ALL WHEELS.
4. BEAD LOCKS OPTIONAL.

ROLL BAR & ROLL CAGE INSTALLATION

1. MUST BE BUILT FROM STEEL TUBING (NO PIPE OF ANY KIND) 1 1/2 O.D. X .095" WALL THICKNESS. ALL TUBING MUST BE MANDREL BENT AND WELDED WITH ARC, MIG OR TIG. FULL, FOUR POST ROLL CAGE WITH AT LEAST ONE HORIZONTAL BAR BEHIND DRIVER FROM LEFT TO RIGHT, IN THE MAIN ROLL BAR, A DIAGONAL BRACE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM IN THE MAIN ROLL BAR , A MINIMUM OF THREE HORIZONTAL DOOR BARS IN PASSENGER SIDE, TWO BRACES FROM TOP OF MAIN ROLL BAR DOWN TO TRUNK FLOOR (BEHIND REAR AXLE), A HORIZONTAL BAR FROM LEFT TO RIGHT BETWEEN FRONT CAGE POST AT DASH HEIGHT, AND TWO BRACES OR SNOUT HOOP FORWARD FROM DASH BRACE TO FRONT SUB-FRAME HORNS. OTHER BARS OR BRACES TO PROTECT RADIATORS, ETC. ARE ALLOWABLE, BUT MUST REMAIN INSIDE BODY LINES.

INSPECTION & TEAR DOWN

TOP THREE IN HEAT-TOP FIVE IN FEATURE ARE SUBJECT TO TEAR DOWN BY TRACK.  IF DEEMED ILLEGAL FOR ANY RULE INFRACTION DRIVER WILL LOSE MONEY AND POINTS FOR THAT NIGHT.  IF DEEMED LEGAL TRACK WILL INCUR COST OF GASKETS NEEDED FOR REASSEMBLE.
